This picturebook draws attention to how do we treat our living environment, why is it so important to live in balance with nature and to recycle. A small boy Hugo has built a grand city from plastic packages. There are skyscrapers, shopping centres and gas stations. There is even a little greenhouse made out of a small, see-through cake box. The whole room is full of his great city. But when Mom asks Hugo to get some herbs from the real greenhouse outside, he sees that the plants are wilted and doing poorly, that the bugs and birds and mice and moles have disappeared. Hugo starts to wonder and rushes back inside. He realises that cities are not only for people but that we need bugs, moles, earthworms and all sorts of animals to make our environment a happy place.
