Kirke Kangro

Kirke Kangro (1975) is an artist and illustrator who received a bachelor’s degree in sculpture and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary art from the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA). Currently, Kangro is a lecturer and Dean of Fine Arts at EKA.

Kangro has illustrated many Estonian children’s books in collaboration with popular authors like Leelo Tungal, Ilmar Tomusk, and Kätlin Vainola. Her style is characterized by an all-encompassing approach in which every detail is meticulously positioned within the composition. Cheerfulness and childlike traits are shared by all her characters. Kangro’s use of colors and traditional techniques reflect her nostalgic attitude towards illustration.
