Maximilian Murmann

Maximilian Murmann (1987) is a translator of Estonian and Finnish literature. He studied Finno-Ugric languages in Munich, Budapest, and Helsinki (2006-2012) and successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in 2018. He has visited Estonia many times and on many occasions. He translates fiction, non-fiction, comics, and childrenā€™s literature into German. He lives in Munich with his family.

Children's books from Estonia offer a wide range of topics and styles, but what stands out to me is their depth and unique sense of humor. I think that has a lot of appeal for young readers, because they feel that they are being taken seriously.
