Viltarė Mickevičienė (Urbaitė)
Viltarė Mickevičiene (Urbaite) (1978) is a translator of Finnish and Estonian into Lithuanian. She studied Lithuanian Philology and Finnish language at Vilnius University, and obtained her MA in Finnish Language and Culture at the University of Helsinki. She translates prose, mainly for children and young adults. Altogether, Mickevičiene has translated over 40 books from Finnish and Estonian.
I really enjoy reading and translating children’s books. Estonian children’s literature is very rich, positive, and engaging. What fascinates me most is gentle humor and a vivid, colorful fantasy world. Although geographically quite close, we don’t have many Estonian language translators in Lithuania, and I feel very happy to be able to introduce talented, imaginative Estonian authors – writers and illustrators – to our readers.
